We have the cooperation interest in plant biochemistry, programmed cell death under different adverse environmental factors such as flooding, extreme temperature changes, salinization, pH changes, different light intensity, the role of epigenetic changes (for example methylation status) in adaptation mechanisms in plants (crops, aquatic plants) and fishes. The researches in cell memory mechanisms. The cellular, molecular, and genetic mechanisms of stress tolerance, adaptation and their possible regulation in plants.
The Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Genetics is equipped with the modern equipment: (UV/VIS spectrophotometers, fluorimeter (Qubit™ (Invitrogen™)), Chl fluorimeter (OS-30 Opti-Sciences), inVia Raman microscope system (British Renishaw), different types of applicators, sequencing machine, pyrosequencing machine, robotic workstation for automated extraction and purification of DNA, RNA, or proteins (Qiagen QIAcube, Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer) and others for spectral, biochemical and genetical analysis.
For carrying out genetic studies, there is a complete set of appropriate equipment: from the isolation of DNA, RNA to their complete analysis., as well as (universal solution for controlling the size, quantity and quality of DNA, RNA, protein or cell samples, which allows obtaining high-quality information in digital format). Real-time PCR (Applied Biosystems), ABI 7500 Real-Time PCR System for determining the gene expression, RotorGeneQ (amplifiers in real time mode (FRT), fluorescence endpoint (FEP) detectors, devices for melting with high resolution (HRM), Pyromark Q24 with pyrosequencing technology for real-time sequence-based detection and quantification of sequence variants and epigenetic methylation. The Leica DM-3000 microscope, Scanning-electron microscope Hitachi TM 1000 and Vibrating type microtome Leica VT 1000 S are suitable and sufficient for different cytological tasks.
There are also several climate chambers for the cultivation of plants under controlled conditions and refrigerator with −80°C for storing the samples prior all manipulations.
